Just inherited a old " 7mm Mauser " came with two boxes of shells one is 7mm the other says 7mm Mauser it is old ww1 gun he always said its a German Mauser Harrell is stamped 7mm but I don't know what the differance would be

What's the differance between 7mm and 7mm Mauser

A 7mm Mauser is aka 7X57 Mauser. I have no idea what would be in a box marked only as 7mm. Have you inspected the base of the rounds inside the box? 7 mm is only the bullet diameter. It's not a specific chambering.
Isn't this sort of question just what this forum is for? Some pics would be helpful?
