What is average distance between rifles displayed horizontally?

Hey Guys,

I'm planning to display some rifles horizontally in my gun room. Is there an average distance used between the guns when making the racks? If so, where is it measured from? I have some muskets, bolt actions, semi-auto, etc. Not sure how to space them.

Lay them on the floor and see what works/looks best.

I measured the width required for upright standards for each type weapon then drilled angled holes for oak pegs spaced so that the rifle would display level. You get ten rifles (roughly) per set of oak (2) oak strips. You can plan for up to about 70 rifles in a regular room/office.

Palmettomoon, does someone sell that? My project has been delayed, but finally getting around to it. I'd like to find plans to make my own, or buy some ready to go. thanks!
