Please share your experience with this powder. From what I understand this is a cheap alternative to IMR 4895. I'm thinking about buying a couple dozen pounds of this stuff, but before I do I would appreciate some insight. Thanks, Russell0331.

I've been using WC-846 and WC-844 for quite a while. I load mostly 223 with the 844 and 308 / 30-06 with the 846. If I am going to shoot the Garand, I use WC-852F for it, as it is a faster powder and doesn't confuse the gas system on the garand. My supplier in Tennessee had some WC-842 at a show a few months ago and it has the copper fouling additive very much like CFE-223. It also comes from St. Marks powder like the CFE-223 but DON'T accept anyones word that you can use CFE-223 starting data. Even the starting data is way hot. I had to drop back about 30% and work up to keep it safe. I now load 22-250, 243 and 308 with it and like it a lot. My favorite milsurp powder is the WC-844. I have loaded and shot several thousand 223 loads with it and find it to be consistent in performance, and I use it in my bolt rifle in 223 for accuracy work. I am going to be working up a load for 204 ruger with the WC-842 and if it performs like I expect, it will be my main powder for that round. Keep a eye on the lot numbers, I ended up with two different lot numbers of WC-820, the older lot was good for using AA-9 data and the newer lot uses H-110 data. A chronograph is an absolute must to safely work up loads with the milsurp powders.. Good luck .. Blitzfike
