That's looking like it's going to be the most practical solution. But it's a long way and probably no way for it to be a straight line through the woods.

That would be great if the can would drop at a 45% angle down the hill.

Drop it straight down & wait. Because you have punched a tiny hole in bottom of the can..before you let it down. You pull it up quicker than water can run back outta that hole. Grew up country
