Venting gas ranges

I am wanting to run a exhaust pipe to the outside for my gas range. Because of where it hits on my roof line I would like to run ir or the side of my house. Is that ok to do?

My house I ran an 8" side wall cap and elbowed right on top of the hood!!

We have an over the range microwave with the exhaust hood in it. I'll be hooking to that.

Whatever ever size is needed. I haven't got that far yet. Is 8" what I should use? Does it need to slope up some?
