The Birmingham Stallions (they reused the name? must've been cheaper) got to the finals against Tampa (some pirate themed name).
Student tickets were free or dirt cheap. Beer was cheap too, and for that reason I don't remember much except yelling "No way Tampa Bay! No way Tampa Bay".
Trivia: I think they used the name Stallions as Bham had just opened the horse racing track, which also closed after several years. The slogans for the horse track was "Pick your nose".
