The USAF has updated its official dress code policy this month, in observance of religious practices, to allow military personnel to wear turbans or hijabs as a part of the uniform. The Air Force released an update to their dress code on Feb. 7, that now permits airmen to request a waiver to wear religious apparel while in uniform as long as they are “neat and conservative.”

Sikh soldiers were allowed to wear their turbans as far back as the mid '70s in the Army. I wonder why the AF is so far behind the times.

Sikhs serving with US forces were wearing turbans in WWI. It's no different than wearing a Crucifix or having a huge Jesus tattoo on the forearm. Who cares as long as their guns are pointed in the right direction.

Some ignorant redneck white kid from Alabama or wherever is more likely to go off and do it before a Sikh would. Sikhs been part of the British forces since the India was colonized. They're as much a part of British military culture as the Gurkhas. Both races are battle proven warriors.
