Alright fellas,
It's about time to retire our 06 Ram 2500 Cummins turbo Diesel, for no other reason than it was my wife's father's truck, and now that she's done with her masters this May... we need to give it back and get our own.

We haul about twice a month, if not more.
Horse trailer is a gooseneck and the weight is just over 5k
Potentially hauling three horses approx 1200 lbs each
Gear luggage and persons included we need a truck that will have the ability to haul 10k lbs.

As well as being my daily driver... I know a tall order but I'm sure some of you fellow gear heads, and enthusiasts will be able to help.

So...
Any suggestions?

I wish he would but, the truck is falling apart because they didn't maintain it...that and it seems like the engine is the only thing "bullet proof" in it.

This new to me truck will be "mine" lol, so it will be well maintained.

That is unfortunate about the truck being in disrepair. I have had few problems with my 99 Silverado 1500. I picked up a cheap car and am putting a little money in it here and there. Sometimes knowing the problems a truck already has and fixing them is easier than starting fresh. If the drive train is good and it works for your needs, then a similar model might be a good idea.
