My family has used "Yaktrax" grips on our shoes & boots for years during icy weather conditions.
They are easy to put on, do not scuff floors (if you're a little careful), are inexpensive, & work extremely well.

The pairs we use we have had for somewhere between 15-20 years so they're durable as well.

Make sure they are on correct,we also added a top crossover strap.
Work great.

For short trips I leave them as is but for all day excursions I also tie them on.
I believe they make a version called the "Pro" which has the crossover strap.
