I dry fired a Remington 40x in ,22lr, for many years, when I was not able to get to the firing range, With the same rifle I won 2 Texas championship, a National title and went to the '76 Olympic trials. Got my butt handed to me at the Olympic trials, but it was not the rifles fault.

Some are okay and some will mess up the firing pin. Its always a good idea to have snap caps but I've dry fired most every gun I've owned.
I keep plenty of loaded klips and mags and loaders and holders.... my dad calls everything a clip and I'm okay with that.
