The U.K. company I worked for a few years ago shut down from Christmas week until after New Years week. We got paid during that time, about two week per year, no reduction in vacation days. That was nice.I am forced to take 3 days vacation Christmas week, every year.
That does seem quaint. My company has a "use it or lose it" if you don't use days by March the following year. Although, if you leave the company, they will pay out for any vac days you've accumulated.I remember fondly my first job with a Fortune 500 company. They actually paid you for any vacation days you didn't use during the year. That was nice. Seems quaint now.

Same here since 1997. That was the last year IRI paid vacation if unused. That does seem quaint. My company has a "use it or lose it" if you don't use days by March the following year. Although, if you leave the company, they will pay out for any vac days you've accumulated.

Another step toward socialism, government mandates, and prohibiting individual self determination! When the time comes, I
100% support
mandatory vacations
for everyone.
If anyone refuses they
should be FORCED.
Sounds like I done gotcha? I sense a wee bit of sarcasm there...Another step toward socialism, government mandates, and prohibiting individual self determination!
GOOD JOB COMRADE!
Communists believe oppression is the result of our “mode of production,” which is the way we organize our means for survival. Currently, that system is capitalism.
