I know Tennessee already does not charge tax on gun safes or anything safety related on guns.

Tennessee Enacts Permanent Sales Tax Exemption for Firearm Safes and Safety Devices. Effective November 1, 2023, Tennessee has enacted a permanent sales and use tax exemption for firearm safes and safety devices.

I'm guessing lay away would be the way to go to secure the firearm you want until tax deferral day.
