Switch on outside of cop car?

Saw this on a Sandy Springs PD car the other day

Any idea what this switch is for ?

Or is it the filler cap for propane or CNG ?

I figured not since those vehicles usually have decals proclaiming so

It's probably something the can take off to plug up to traffic boxes and control the lights in the car.

Nah. I've seen those and they just have a long wire


Plus the sandy springs PD just stands in the road and does it the old fashioned way at 400 and Abernathy every afternoon

You sure it's a switch ? Not just a plug for blocking off a hole ? It looks like if you twist it it would unscrew and creat an open hole for some reason.
