My SKS gets really hot at the barrel when I dump a 30 round magazine through it. Is this normal? It cycles perfectly with no issues. I never noticed it before because I use the 10 round magazine 99 percent of the time. Thanks in advance.

Any rifle is going to get hot after a 30 round mag dump
Try busting a nut 30 times as fast as she can pull your trigger. If you survive Id say your barrel might rise in temperature.

No, it won't hurt anything.
A "mag dump" with a semi-auto gun, with 30 round mags,
is nothing like full auto shooting with a drum, or a belt fed conversion.
P.S. Like you, I also use the factory 10 round fixed mag most of the time.

Don't touch the metal if you want to keep your fingerprints. Really bad with plastic/composite stocks.
