Took the barrel off a Mossberg 500 to clean it. I don't remember how it came off with regards to how close the barrel was into the receiver. So after reinstalling multiple times to see if I can close this gap, I cannot close the gap.

I looked inside the receiver and it looks like the bottom of the barrel cannot go any further. Am I doing something wrong, or is this normal and okay to fire?

Not sure what you mean? I moved the handguard down so I can slide the barrel back on without any interference, if that's what you are referring to? Followed many of the multiple instructions on YouTube.

The barrel is fully-seated. The visible gap is really just the "Heat Shield". That normally doesn't seat exactly against the Receiver, so it gives that little gap that you're seeing. All is well....

I get what you're saying, but if you look just past the heat shield you'll see the base of the barrel and the slight gap which is illustrated by the shininess of where the oil is.
