Removing an NFA lower from the registry? How long does it take?

Has anyone done this? How long does it take?

About a week from the time they receive your letter requesting removal.
They will send you a letter stating it has been removed.

I assume this is a SBR, but you have already paid the tax what would be the purpose of doing this?

So you can reconfigure it and sell it as a non nfa item would be my guess

If you already paid the tax, taking off the registry would make so you wasted money. You might as well keep it. A stripped lower is worth what $50. You can take all parts off lower and sell if you need money. Taking off wastes your money and time of other Examiners. Makes no sense at all. Might as well keep it

Yet it takes at least 6 months to approve....don't make no dam sense.

This. You can't turn it back into a pistol nor get a refund on the stamp. Subd for info.

True but if he's moving to a state that doesn't allow SBRs it would make sense.

Depending on what the lower is makes a difference as well. I see guys taking factory Colt 6921s that are marked M4 LE and have the le restricted roll marks off the registry and permantly attaching flash hiders selling for more money that what they originally cost back in the day even with the 200.00 tax added in.
