Last hunt for my Louisiana friends this morning before they head home. Started out raining and then the temps dropped and it all turned to ice. Mallards left the feed grounds and were looking for any body of water with a high north bank so they could get out of the wind. We just so happened to setup on one just like that. About 8:00 am the birds started falling out of the sky and 5 of us shot our limits in about 45 minutes. Thank goodness because I was frozen stiff. If it hadn’t been for the birds I would’ve been out of there. I did something I’ve never done before. I shot 2 banded mallard drakes this morning.
