How far away from a deck overhang should a fire pit be placed?

You should put it directly on the deck so you won't run out of firewood.
How big of a fire pit and what do you plan to burn in it? at least 10 feet if you throw some pine logs in it. I have two and within 10 feet it can melt a plastic Chair
It's about 7 feet away from the overhang now with the way I have it layed out. Too close?

If you put it under it it will heat the floor like heated bathroom tiles, sorta.
40 inch diameter. Hard wood for fuel.
