We've lost some really great ODT members lately. Reading through some of the threads about the recent loss of B Byrd, @mkdhotrod questioned why we don't have a thread to honor some of the fallen members of our community.

If you are so inclined, please feel free to honor the members of our ODT family who've passed by sharing anything from grief to funny stories, and celebrating their lives.

Charlie and I met at a M&G. He and I shared an interest in revolvers. I stayed mainly to S&W, Charlie was not particular about brands, he bought what he liked. Charlie did like S&W J frames, and he knew I liked K frame Smiths. Charlie sent me a PM one day and asked if I had any interest in a M19-3 blued, 4", and a M581, nickel. Before I called him, I sent him a message saying, "I'll take them". Then I called Charlie. First thing he said to me was, "you haven't even seen them, and you don't know the price, why are you saying I will take them?" I told him, if you own them, they will have been well taken care of, and I know the price will be fair. Charlie laughed, then he said, "you are just too trusting of people, but I am going to hold you to the "I'll take them". And he laughed again. Of course, they were dang near perfect, and the price, very fair. I will miss Charlie.

Meatwad used to send me a PM from time to time about revolvers. Not often, but on occasion. The Classic Wheel Gun Porn thread was started, and the second post was Meatwad poking me about me posting picture of revolvers. I sent him a PM about it, and we enjoyed a real good conversation. Meatwad, aka, DavetheMinion, was a real piece of work....in a very good way!

I agree...B. Byrd's passing has left a hole in this place. Granted...he didn't post much. Just wasn't that kind of person...never wanted to draw a lot of attention. The first time I met him in person was the M&G at Come'n Get It in Marietta. We must have talked for 1/2 an hour...he was just that interesting of a person. And of course, we shared a common passion in Smiths. That wasn't the only time I broke bread with Charlie...and every occasion was just as good as the first.

RIP in that Big Bird's nest in the sky, Charlie.

I met Charlie when he bought a .44 special from me about two years ago. He loved .44 specials. I met him at his house and we shot the breeze for about 45 minutes. He could talk about anything. He showed me his reloading set-up and gave me about 50 old gun magazines.

I found some spent cases and dropped them off at his house and we talked some more. I found six cases about two months ago and never got around to getting them to him.

One of the nicest men I've ever met. Very, very sad to see him go.
