Good for surveying. Not much good for anything else. They require batteries and add weight "to your head".
The military has IR lasers on all the guns so the guys can shoot and move with the Anvis dual goggles. They really do offer an advantage because all the dark areas not visible to the human eye become clear shades of green. So one side fights groping in the dark, unable to figure out friend and foe, and the other has total observation.


The PVS14's are pretty worthless. The one goggle does the same thing, but with no depth perception so there is no ability to shoot and move with the PVS14. So most of the people I knew walked around with them flipped up on their head and only used them in fixed positions or during a halt for a quick check of dark "virtual dead space".
