NFA, no paperwork?? (price check)

Absolutely! I know many PDs who would sell their MP5s for 20k a piece and update for a fraction of the cost. Thompsons, M14s, MP5s, M16s... you name it.

Obviously in the case of my customer it's semi but if it wasn't, it's hard to believe that piece of history ends up getting trashed...

I'm still confused about the "dealer sample" is it stamped that or is there paperwork?

You'd have to ask one of the dealers. They get certain privileges associated with their license

A ffl can pay a "special occupational tax" to become a nfa dealer. These license holders can buy new manufacturer machine guns as dealer samples, but there's still a lot of paperwork and red tape. They can't go out and buy 50 new full auto mp5s just because. They have to have a police department or military purchase order first( to buy 50), or a letter from a qualified department that says they're interested in testing one for possible purchase. This is known as a "law letter" in the industry, and allows the dealer to buy one gun for their inventory.

This would be your post 86 dealer sample, it can't be sold to the public. If the dealer goes out of business they have to so it to a qualified agency or another SOT dealer, or either surrender or destroy the weapon (can't remember which)

If the dealer is a class 7 FFL ( manufacturer) with a SOT they can make dealer samples without prior approval, and of course the same rules apply regarding transfer.

If they can find a pre 86 dealer sample and buy it for their FFL it's still can't be sold to the public, but if they go out of business these can be kept by the license holder if they go out of business.

Since it is so costly and/or nearly impossible to get fully automatic weapons, where do all those that we see on TV and movies come from? :behindsofa:

(Purely a sarcastic post, but one of my big pet peeves because it makes the public believe that all weapons are full auto and every Joe Blow has them).

Forget that, where do they buy their suppressors.... I wish mine were that quite!

I've dealt with people for years in my line of work .

If I had a dollar for every story I've heard .

Especially the ones about cutting ,or shooting down trees in someone's back yard , or Billy Joe jimbob's dad's ,uncles, brother has an AR14 ,blah, blah ,blah

Thanks for the chart. It's been so long I couldn't remember exact names except for Inland and Rockola.
Sadly, had that saved on my phone.

Pretty much all the m1s were re-arsenaled after world war 2, if you can find an original production unmolested one that's where you really get into some money. They changed back sites and added the bayonet lug with the new barrel band, probably other stuff too, but I don't know for sure. They basically tore them all apart and sorted out all the good parts into piles and built new guns. Thats why virtually all are mixmasters. Even pre re-arsenal most were, because during wartime production if inland had receivers, but was behind on barrels, they ship in barrels or out receivers to another manufacturer.

It's funny, very popular and beloved gun, they were only produced for a few years, 42-45 or somewhere around there.

And just imagine all the dumbass phone and walk in traffic at gun shops that was a direct result of those meth monster retards on Sons of Guns. The acting on that show was SO bad the first time I saw it I said " This has to be porn." But they never got around to the sex. And the projects they took on were so damn retarded it was hard to watch. But just imagine the number of dumbass's out there that walked into gun stores wanting to buy an FA M11 disguised as a radio.
I love Firearms oriented shows but I can't stand stupid **** that just fuels the idiots and the anti gun crowd.
