***newest pistol from XD line...

Why is that?

Well, a couple reasons. Firstly, when there is plenty of light, a fiber optic front sight is too bright for me. It takes my attention away from the target and causes me to stare at the sight.
I pulled all of my hi-viz sights off of my upland guns and shot pheasants and quail much better with a brass bead. Same with pistols. Speed and accuracy was/is better with a dim tritium front sight or blacked out front sight. Black contrasts great in the daytime, and a dim tritium site is just enough to grab your attention in low light, but not keep your attention. Fiber optics offer little if anything in low light, especially one that's a half inch long.

Lastly, it's a mental hangup. A little piece of semi-unprotected plastic in my front sight. Pass.
