Hey guys, I finally bought my first Mosin today, well actually 2.
One a 1938 Tula round receiver all matching numbers but I think it may have been force matched. Looks great with clean bore.

Second 1933 Izhevsk Hex receiver all matching numbers looks great but the sear will not catch the bolt every time when cycled quickly and the bolt de-cocks when the lugs are relocking.

I noticed the sear on the Tula protrudes a lot more from the receiver and is more resistant if you push it down. I'm wondering if a worn out sear could cause this problem.

I could not see any evidence of someone filing anything to make a smoother trigger so I believe it's just a worn out sear.

Could the sear cause this?

It sure can. The goof news is that parts are chep and it's easy to replace. You can Google it for a list of places to order parts, nd there are lots of youtube videos to show you how. Only takes about 5 minutes.....
