I have a single cab 1997Chevrolet c-1500. The truck is completely stock with exception of a set of shackles in the rear to make it level.
Now I want to fill in the wheel wells with a new set of wheels & Tires . I do not want to lower the truck I like the way it rides now .
Anyone have any experience in this ?

I had a 97 Chevy a few years ago, also with rear shackles installed. The largest tire I installed was a 295/60 on factory SS 454 style wheels. Do you want to stick with 15"?

A lot depends what size wheel you choose and if you are looking for a low profile or taller profile tire. Also, with appropriate backspacing on the wheel you can fit a lot of tire under it.

Here is a thread from a Chevy truck forum featuring different wheel/tire combos:

33x12.50 will fit on a 4wd Barely
It will fill the fenders as much as you can without major rubbing

You just gotta test fit some and see what you like
A lot of tire places will not install anything larger than their book says came factory. So you may have to go to a independent shop. Not a national chain brand

There is a bolt on tool called Percy's wheelwright.
Unbolt the wheel and bolt the tool in place then make adjustments on tool.
It will allow you to put the largest wheel in there as possible.:

Here is what a 95 with 31/10.50/15's looks like.

No rubbing
