it comes down to knowledge of the local area as well, the goat herders with old ak and surplus ammo know the area and blend in, but if you threw them smack dab in the middle of Georgia with their current equipment and clothing it would take the away the advantage, many times it comes down to the home field advantage in combat which is why battling the middle eastern countries or even north korea on their own turf makes the enemy more dangerous
