My Brother is looking at purchasing a M1 Carbine, IBM receiver. He is an IBM employee and my father was rated as a marksman (according to him) in 1952 on the Carbine. Our dad is faltering these days and My brother is trying to get a shooting even up that Dad can remember/relate to. My brother wants me to drive him to NC to look at a gun he found on line. I would like some advice on what I should look for on this gun to make sure he isn't getting taken. I have an M1 Garand that I replace all off the furniture on so I do have a bit of experience with WW2 weapons. I think I know enough to be dangerous and I don't want to make an ID10T error which I am prone to do. Any help or guidance you can give me would be appreciated.
