buy or look on a bag of Martha White or White Lily buttermilk cornbread mix and you'll find the recipe, most all mix bags have there recipe on the bag
we don't add the sugar
2 -3 teaspoons of Diced Jalapenos, this is very mild, add more if you like
last step do not use toothpick, insert a butter knife in the center if it comes out with any batter cook longer

Any of yall tried using Jalapeno powder instead of slices?

Jalapeno is ground super fine like black powder but still has the kick your looking for. I stumbled across this about 2 years ago and gave up all my hot sauces for a powder.

How is the flavor using powder? I'm in it for the flavor of the pickled Jalapeno. I like some heat but the taste is what I'm looking for. Those little bits of pickled add so much to a dish.
