One evening 10 years ago, I was sitting on my couch cleaning my Sig P226 RX SAO. My wife storms in the room and tells me she's leaving. Shocked, i looked up at her hard determined face. I pleaded with her to stay, I yelled at her for leaving. Hours we fought. Then from the distance comes a small yet powerful voice. "Sit down you two"
Stunned, we looked around for the speaker. I searched the room but couldn't find anyone. Again I hear, "Down here".
My sig was sitting up and staring at me. "You can talk??", I said
"I can do more than you know", it said
For the next 6 hours My wife, me and my Sig P226rx SAO sat and talked. He counseled us on our marriage and after a lot of tears, we decided to try to make it work.
FAST FORWARD 5 YEARS:
The memory of that day with the sig long forgotten and we think, maybe it was a dream. He never spoke again. We were too scared and mystified to bring it up to each other.
My wife is 8 months pregnant with our first child. She's in the kitchen making tea, while I put the crib together in the other room. I hear a scream and a glass shatter coming from the kitchen. I grab my sig and run down. My wife is sitting on the floor with tea all around her. "THE BABY IS COMING!!"
"It's too soon", I scream.
But ready or not, this baby was coming. We hop in the car and drive to the hospital, but the there was a blizzard going on and the roads were almost impassable. I step on the gas and hit a patch of ice. We scream and skid all over the road. Eventually, we end up in a ditch. My wife screaming, me nervous. I don't know what to do.
"DAMN IT, THIS BABY IS HERE", she screams.
"What do I do??" I yell
Then from behind me I hear a long forgotten yet familiar voice
"I'll take it from here"
"SIGGY" we both exclaim.
The Sig masterfully assists in the birth of my son. We eventually got home, I cleaned up my wife, my new baby and my sig. "How can I thank you?" I say
"It's time to move on", says Sig
"NO.....I need you......You've saved me on numerous occasions. Your......my best friend"
"Others need me too. I've taught you well and you'll be fine on your own. Let me be there for others"
We wept together for 30 minutes. Eventually, he packs up his box and his Romeo 1 sight and heads for the door. We lock eyes, but no words can say what needs to be said. So he walks out of the door and out of our lives forever.
