Winchester Model 97 / 1897
This is the shotgun the famous trench gun was based off of that was so feared in WW1 that the Germans asked it to be banned from war. This one has not been cut down that I can tell, it is about 25 inches from the receiver to the barrel end. It appears to be pre-1900 according my research the serial numbers ended #96999 in 1899, this one has a serial number 50xxx so chances are it is 1898 since it appears they made about 30K of them per year from 1899-1905 so going backwards puts us at 1898.
The bluing is all but gone as seen in the pictures. The wood is in great shape for it's age. (see pics) The action cycles, I haven't shot it.
I've based the price just on what has already sold on ODT in similar condition. Cash is best but trade offers will be entertained. Offer away.
