Thanks for that tid bit. I had no idea that NOAA was saddled with the enforcement of those conservation acts. Interesting how those 'powers" are passed to the "conservation officers" of which ever division (Coast Guard, DBR, etc.) is tasked with the actual duty of carrying out said laws. So I guess all this ammo is channeled out to those departments who actually carry out the task. Plausible.

I was unaware they had arms until today. I looked it up and the OIG is charged with seeking out government fraud and abuse, since 1970's watergate issue. The ammo request came out to around 620 rounds per person. It would make one really good range day or to train and qualify those so armed for a year perhaps.
