I'm new to the AR world

I have a question that maybe stupid but this is my first AR. I have a Del Ton and wanna swap the carbine handguard out for midlength quad rail. I know I would have to swap the A2 gasblock/front sight to a low profile gas block but would I then be able to fit the middy quad?

As long as its a full float, they only attach to the barrel nut. A "drop in" won't work, they use the handguard cap behind the sight base to hold the front. Also, some will require changing the barrel nut, others will attach to the factory nut.

Hey sharpshooter, how are you? And mustluvdawgs you can also get a drop in quad rail that goes around the sight. Much easier.

Don't confuse the poor guy. A drop in will work if you want to use the delta ring and the cap behind the base. Let me correct myself a two piece drop in. Sorry

? He's looking at putting a 9" handguard on a rifle with a 7" gas system.

I would like to thank you gentlemen. I'm was pretty sure I'd have to go with a free float. I was just unclear if it would clear the gas block even if it was a lo pro.
