Interestingly enough, Hume was convinced that the self did not exist and that existence was a fiction. Thought was the only concrete and that we willed people in and out of existence at our intellectual behest. He would often ask someone in his class or lecture hall to leave the building and prove to the rest of the gathering that they existed. Of course, they were unable to do so.

I know you're only poking fun, but an 18th century philosopher had already perfected the act of trolling before it was given a name. Hume was a weird dude, if not correct on many things.
