As I recall, it should be the opposite, the Internet was created to allow communication when the Government was scattered, splintered or shut down. Oh well.

Been a Ham operator since 1974. There is a lot that can be done on 2meters and 440. I still have a low power dual bander setup with packet radio... But truthfully the internet would be my last worry with a SHTF situation...
