How do you remove forearm off a AR

Not sure exactly what you are trying to do. Note that if you take off the "forearm thing" the "big knob" is not coming off with it unless you take the barrel and barrel nut off. If you still want to take off the handguards, I have the tool and would be glad to help. Stan

You are just trying to pull the hand guards right? Work on a left or right side, doesn't matter, then pull push the round ring at the base of the grips to one side until a gap exist to shift the hand guard out. You can use a solid rod/dowel to assist pushing down. Then it should pop out.

The rail if it locks the two halves of the guards will need to be removed.

You have a Magpul 'forearm thing" on your gun. Pull down on the ring as far as you can, then pull a tad bit harder. Lift up on the top piece as it is not like the clam shell type a lot of people have. The covers are very tight and take more than a little work to get it out. I would push down toward the ring with the top piece and lift up as you go. FYI, its easier to get them off than back on. You can also use a pair of channel locks opened up and use the handles if they are rubber coated to help you out. Just don't let them slip and hurt the "boys".:censored:
