If you are looking at 1911s Springfield is another choice, depending on your budget you can go anywhere from a Milspec at about $500 up to well over $1,500. I have a TRP which for the money I think is as good as a tactical 1911 can get before you start going custom. There are a few features on it I don't care for, but they shoot like a house afire and in my experience Springfield tend to be less hassle then some of the higher end Kimbers which I've enough fail or not function from the factory to make me skidish around them. There lower, $700 level seem alright though.
