Guitar Shortage?

Just for fun.....Martin C25 classical from the late 50's. I never could play it worth a hoot, but it was loaned to several "name" studio musicians because of it's excellent tone.

I think the "shortage" is caused by the interruption of manufacturing by the covid closing mandates.

I voluntarily started shedding guitars earlier this year. When you can't remember how many you have, it is time to do something. I sold 7 or 8 so far. Still have more than I sold....

Blasphemy!

Please tell me you aren’t going to say you have too many firearms, next?

Next it will be Cadillacs and Hillbilly music shortage!!
I see what you did there. Not a country music fan at all but Dwight is my second favorit behind DAC.
As for the OP's question it's not a shortage its a supply chain/logistics problem. I only know that because I take my youngest daughter to Music Masters in Warner Robins every Friday for bass lessons. She wants to be a female Nikki Sixx ( hopefully without the heroin addiction) But anyway the owner told me he waited months for guitars and effects pedals due to a Cocid gap in the supply chain.

It is a combination of covid boredom and covid manufacturing/shipping droughts. Last year Martin had a long waiting list, and they are geared for high production.

The used market is crap for buyers right now. There is still plenty to have if one knows where to look, but it is a seller's market...For some things, anyway.

In the past year I've bought 3 guitars, a bass, 2 amps, and another PA system. I've also bought a ton of accessories. Picks, cables, mics, recording gear, straps, etc...I'm always looking for the next guitar or amp.

I spend way more time browsing guitars than I do browsing for guns.

Of course my purchases in the past year had nothing to do with covid. I was already well guitar'd.

The market is opening up and getting better. The used market not so much.

GAS (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome) is a thing. There is no known long term remedy.
