I have not reloaded rifle cartridges for years, but got out my 1970's rock chuck kit. First step after cleaning and inspection is to lube the cases. RCBS uses what I call "greasy kid stuff" for lube. Is there another less tedious, more modern, and proven lube to use that eliminates the cleanup before going to the next step, perhaps one that will not incidentally foul the primers?

Thanks

Question, how often do y'all break down your dies and clean them very thoroughly piece by piece??
Quiet often when I'm loading lead. Lube accumulates in the seater die.
I use one shot on pistol cases. Rcbs lube on a pad for rifle cases followed by ultrasonic cleaning in alcohol.

Was just wondering about what your die scheduled cleaning procedures were, we break ours down after every 300 - 500 rounds, clean them in gasoline, resemble, light lube in the resizing die, and a coat in the seating die. We either use RCBS lube, or petroleum jelly it is only $2 -$4, for about a 1# container. It lubes well and is easily cleaned up and off the dies and it protects the dies and the brass.
