Go/ No Go who uses a gauge?

Quality components rarely fall out of spec. Even with the tolerance of the bolt and barrel stacked against each other.

If you're going cheap on components.. it's probably a much better plan.

I have a Colt field gauge that I have never used during a build.
Maybe I have just been lucky or maybe buying new good quality parts has paid off.

Never really thought about it to be honest. I've never heard mention of a barrel that was so out of spec it wouldn't 'just work', but I guess that's always a possibility.

AKs make sense, and in fact I do use a full set of gauges on almost all my non-AR rifles since very few of those make it 'impossible' to screw up head space like the AR does.
