Ever have a turkey walk right into your lap?

A few years back I had a hen get a bit aggressive with me as I worked towards the rear of my property - I suspect I encroached upon her nest.

Had this one show up in my yard a year or so ago - took the picture out of my home office window.

Strange birds.....

I was sitting in the middle of 2 hens path couple years ago. Had one walk on either side of me at about 3-4 yards on each side. After they got about 20 yards past i did some soft yelps and got them fired up. Finally, they went on about their business. I thought surely, they would call in Mr. Tom for me that morning, but he never showed.

The closest I’ve ever gotten to a turkey was when I got flogged by a hen on a gas line in Haralson County several years ago. I was working my way through some tall grass on a gas pipeline and literally walked right up on her while she sat on a nest full of eggs. She didn’t like that at all. She sprang up off of the nest, flogged me and then proceeded to escort me out of the area, clucking loudly the whole time. She kept trying to flog me as I retreated.
I think that she was just as startled as I was. I had to walk backwards for a good bit and use my shotgun as a shield to keep her from flogging me again.

Fortunately never had that. I have had them as close as @ 15' I think it was during deer season. She wasn't happy when she figured out I was there. She just moved away with her flock in an upset manner. I figured if she wondered in that close, I was plenty good for deer
