Dogs/puppies recommendations

Unfortunately, yesterday my companion of 15 years had a heart attack, actually multiple. I had to have her euthanized which broke my heart.
Her very young brother, a chi--poo (right at a year), is going to need a companion. I prefer small dogs that are rescues or pound animals that are semi trained and friendly. I think a Terrier may be too active.

Sorry for your lost. I am kinda opposite of you and always preferred large dogs. But wife wanted a ankle biter and we got one. If you can find one consider a Yorkie. They are funny to watch and the little bitch has stolen my heart. They are very quick to let you know that their super hearing is working fine.

I am inconsolable. I've had bigger dogs but they need more time and energy which I cannot offer.
