Stripped the chipped black coating off my CZ 82 and recoated it myself with Brownells gun metal grey and ordered some pretty sweet wooden grips. More to come with the after pics once I get it all back together.

It’s drying now. Has to cure good before handling it. I ordered the paint from Amazon. Along with several wire brush, sanding pads, and grinding tools for my dremel tool.
I have painted plenty of shotguns. Usually with high heat engine paint from VHT or Duplicolor with good results. But one time back in 13 I tried to use the same stuff on a non matching numbers SKS and it was a real bitch. So many places to strip and mask off . Turned out that paint was a little too thick for use on semi auto type actions.
I assume you're using a gun specific coating. Even knowing that I believe I would pay a Smith or legit Coater to do mine. BTW... I dig the grips a lot. Been meaning to order some wood grips for mine.

Brownells for guns. I left a message with you know who but I’m guessing he’s busy with the new shop and baby. Never heard back.

Too bad i didn’t know about this project. I’ve got a blasting cabinet and a couple CZ to do. Would have blasted for you. How hard was it to strip with the tools you used?

I’ve had good luck with Alumahyde on several AKs, but I’m going with a satin Cerakote on them to try to come close to original finish.

Wasn’t bad at all. Took about an hour to strip.
