Almost makes me want to go set up camp on Monday morning near Spaghetti Junction or one of the I-20 interchanges just to watch the show.We had pretty good snow storm while living in Raleigh.
Some of us kids walked several blocks to a big hill to
see how the drivers were doing. Straight up one side
then down the other T intersecting at bottom with a right
turn only, go straight plow thru a yard. We could hear the
tire spinning before we could see it. Several cars all directions
either against the curbs stopped or still trying to burn their way
to the top. Some sliding downhill despite churning uphill. Pretty
entertaining mess.
Dad grew up in NH so no lack of experience w/winter driving.
Here he comes towards the hill on way to pickup brother from
daycare. He stopped on the slope before the base of the hill,
we went down to advise him and learned where he was going.
Got out of the way, activity on the hill had come to a stop. Dad
got his rolling start and up the hill he went nice and steady. Over
the top and coasting down other side. Probably helped he was
in a 6 cyl 3 spd sedan. The spectators after seeing him make it
all piled back into their cars and renewed their efforts to make it
over the top or slide to the bottom trying. We did walk to the top
to peer down other side to see if dad was in the yard but no sign
of him, long gone.
Have another funny him driving on snow/ice after we got to GA.
but ya'll probably need to refill your coffee mugs first.
