Car stereo help

I have an old aftermarket Pioneer stereo in a 2008 Miata hardtop convertible. Sound goes in & out of driver side speakers. Need help diagnosing the problem (speakers, amp, headunit??) or recommendations for someone in the Marietta/ Kennesaw area that can check it out without breaking the bank.

Most likely it's a short in the speaker wire If I was on that side of town I wouldn't have any problem helping but I'm pretty far...I'm sure it's shorting

Start by swapping the L.R. inputs on the amp.If it changes sides, it's in the patch cords or head unit. If not, it's in the amp, speaker wires or a speaker.

Check where the wires go through the door and see if any rubbing, bare wires, etc.,
Also you can move those wires around while it’s playing and see if the speaker goes in/out. That will at least tell you if there is a short at the door.
