Ok, well some friends and I are all looking at ordering some suppressors and each have set a budget at about $800 with the tax stamp. There seem to be some great deals on QD suppressors right now and I am looking for some opinions, even if it is not listed/linked please give some input on what you like or own and how they sound.

Griffin Armament M4-SD: http://griffinarmament.com/silencers/556-silencer/m4-sd/

I like that it is melonite treated (same as my AA barrel). I have watched many videos and it doesn't sound as good as the YHM or the Gemtech but I like that it can attach to my standard A2 flash hider and that they offer a muzzle brake similar to the Spikes Dynacomp I was looking at getting that works as well for attachment.

YHM stainless QD: http://yhm.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14_18&products_id=167

Sounds great on YouTube and even comes with a QD flash hider or muzzle brake of your choice

Gem-Tech Halo: http://www.gem-tech.com/store/pc/HALO-9p86.htm

It is definitely well known and has been around for a while and fits many different muzzle devices, my downside is that it is heavy.

I've been leaning towards the M4-SD but it doesn't sound as good in all of the videos that I have found, it is the lightest. But 3oz. isn't that big of a deal to me since my rifle is I believe already over 8lbs. Just looking for any input on which you would prefer and why or if you own one how do you like it; any suggestions of other suppressors around that price +/- $100 or so isn't to big of a deal.

My personal gun sports a liberty torch qa. Pretty cheap, super quiet, and the mount is rock solid. You can either use libertys mount that goes behind your muzzle device, or you can use a yhm one. Only downside is it is a little heavy. But with the liberty mount it reflexes over the muzzle some. So that helps the balance. I'm a firm believer in their square bores too. And it's made by Dave, so you know you have a stand up guy behind it.

I have a stainless Phantom, it's built like a tank but also much heavier than comparable products.

I wouldn't buy Griffin Armament based on their reputation alone.

The Liberty Torch is probably the longest .223 silencer on the market and weighs the same as the Phantom, The Torch mount looks retarded, sure it might be a solid mount but....

Gemtech is OK but the mounting system is so so. It's also the heaviest of the choices mentioned

.223 is a hard caliber to suppress

I cannot find any "true" data on the Griffin other than crappy Youtube videos

Dave at Liberty says the Torch meters in the low 130's, but again I see no data

Thanks for all of the great info, I think the YHM will probably be the one I go for and stainless for $615. A guy at Stoddard's said one of the employees got the SWR specwar and loves it but when I asked about the price they said it would be the MSRP price...

And that is an awesome website by the way.

Unless the Dealer has the YHM in stock, it will be a couple of months before they see the form 3.

I called about one the other day, and YHM was quoting a few months out.

Say what you will about the Torch mount, but it works. I'll admit its not very pretty, but I love it. What other mount lets you use whatever flash hider you want? I added some pics to show what it looks like in real life, and with some real measurements. As you can see it only adds 6" when using their mount. An M42000 adds 5.1. (I swear the tape lines up with the muzzle in each pic, although the camera angle makes it look like it doesn't) If you cant read the tape, its 3.5" from end of rail to muzzle, and 9.5" from end of rail to end of suppressor. 9.5-3.5=6"
