Can anyone share their experiences with a lever action shotgun ? Are they fun range toys or unreliable pieces of junk ?

I played with one quite a bit last year.

I went into it with great hopes. While I can’t say that my hopes were dashed, I did find myself disappointed.

It did not run low brass shells as well as high brass. I can’t figure out why that would make a difference in a manually operated shotgun.

The stroke to work the lever is long. At the full forward position, the lever is slightly past “90 degrees”. The action is not smooth, and takes force to operate fully.

That is my experience with a sample of one. YMMV. As it stands, I would have to rate them as a novelty, which disappoints me.
