I recently passed on selling a rifle because a newbie wanted me to complete a BOS. Sorry you aren't getting my home address.


If something goes wrong with the sale I'm sure LE could follow the digital trail here.

I have noticed more and more post want a Bill of Sale. I do not have a problem doing a basic BOS (name, gun, serial number, price, date) but the info they want (license #, address, phone #) is too much. I understand they want the information to “protect” themselves, but a basic BOS would prove they no longer own the gun. There is no need for any personal information. What is to protect me from identity theft? Sorry for the rant, but I have passed on a few items I would like lately because the seller insisted on my personal information even when I offered to show my license, permit and complete a basic BOS. Hey, it’s their gun so their choice but it’s a shame some people think they need all that info.

Since I read this thread, will need your home address, phone #, date of birth and SSI number for my ODT thread log.
