I’m looking to ankle carry a 357. I know it’s big but is a 686 PC too big for the job? I honestly just like the look compared to the M60’s.

Stainless/nickel and exposed hammer is a must for me.

Like this S&W 360 PD.

I'd prefer it had a 2.5" bbl and a full length ejector rod, but that's not what sells.
I also wish it had a real rear sight; a big, wide one.

But...
S&W builds guns for mass consumption. Not for opinionated experts.

I'm a S&W J frame fan, but these Rugers are worth a look. I was impressed with the trigger on one my buddy has in .38 special. They do have a .357 mag version. Much more affordable, especially if it's going to be roughed up and carried.

You know I hadn't even thought of Ruger. When I think of small wheel gun I think of S&W, but a LCR would be perfect for ankle duty. Of course kinda kills the whole "Stainless or Nickel is a must"thing for him.
