Had one get mine in the middle do the day last year. It took forever to clean up the mess he made and I had to buy a new trash can from where it tore it up getting into it.

We only get them at night, and this one is brave. I tried to scare him off, he just meandered off as if he had to leave for a few minutes to appease me.

I would probably move if I was worried about bears coming into my house at night or tearing in my garbage. I'd probably move if I lived where there was a large bear population these guys are scary.
