Tried out the "Backpacker Oven" by BEMCO during last weekend's outing.

This is the smaller, 8"x8"x12" tall, model. They are intended for use with a gas stove that has the fuel can separate from the burner unit. You place the burner under the stove and it is ready to go.

The set is well designed and built. It assembles easily. Also included are two pans, a pot holder and a thermometer. Not included is a pair of leather gloves, which should be in every backpack anyway. Inside is a solid steel heat diffusing plate below two baking racks.

I tried it with coals because i'm not carrying an oven and a stove... AND cans of fuel!
The coals kept the oven at a steady 300○F, after I removed the heat diffuser.
The pic below shows it warmer as I was preheating it (they recommend preheating to 400-450F because it is so small and loses heat quickly).

Overall I think it would be helpful for a long term camp. It is well constructed, but has many sharp edges and needs to be in a bag before packing it. For the same weight, my GSI 10" anodized aluminum Dutch oven would be more versatile and easier to use.
