Just bought a B&W yesterday, works great. Paid $217 in LaGrange. Most I ever paid for a hitch.
I have been using one of these for 14 years with no issues. I have one for each of my 3 trucks.

I certainly don't want to drag my balls. Sounds painful. The biggest issue with the b&w and smiler hitches is you may drag your balls on steep driveways.
Not sure who's idea it was to make 3 different balls from 1-7/8" to 2-5/16", my vote is to nix the smaller 1 of the 3 and keep things simple.
I fired him. He got on drugs. Regardless of the manufacturer, I would not want to hook up a trailer to anything with any play in it. The more linkages, the more play, the less stable. Not that important with the small trailer, but the larger trailers that could be an issue.Ask him if it was a B&W.
